horny-sama, nah, i like to buy physical books :)
i have the first edition hardcover :)
thecha
vendu how many books do you have collected?
pyon
Denommus: Specifically crafted to avoid backtracking. 'Cause I don't trust fancy-pants algorithms to eliminate backtracking from regular expressions, especially when coupled with other complexity. :-)
(Like matching different kinds of tokens and whatnot.)
vendu
thecha, perhaps 50-100 computer programming ones :)
jontxu
vendu, FreeBSD on paras :P
horny-sama
jontxu: conspiracy zionist
thecha
more zthan your average library
vendu
jontxu, :)
thecha
i bet you there si less books on programmingin my local library
Denommus
pyon: what I still don't understand is what <foo> or <0> stands for in an alex file
vendu
thecha, let me show you a partial list of some of my books :)
thecha
vendu: ahhh
:)
vendu
https://github.com/vendu/OS-Zero/blob/master/notes/booklist.txt
probably doesn't list even half of them, but some good ones on the list :)
pyon
Denommus: dunno, gotta read the documentation
thecha
lol the title "black art of 3d game prgamming"
vendu
thecha, i actually am lucky to have two copies of that one :)
thecha
sounds like 3d game programming includes osme huamn sacrifice lol
vendu
it does, in the form of time spent :)
thecha
lol
jontxu
vendu, that collection throughout how many years?
thecha
if you know unix willyou also know gnu OS?
vendu
jontxu, i have no idea, honestly :)
jontxu, but i have much more that's not on the list
let me update it a bit :)
pyon
Denommus: So, are you using stack?
vendu
aha
i ran into the unix filesystems book :)
better start reading it soonish :P
Denommus
pyon: for some projects, yes
pyon: but not for things that use GHCJS
pyon
Ah!
gcfhvjbkn
anyone knows of a good place to solicit career advice?
vendu
thecha, jontxu, please reload the list :)
it's got a few additions, still missing a lot though :(
thecha
vendu you added 19 lines
Denommus
pyon: but I'm kinda pissed that they decided to throw stack-ide away for yet another solution
pyon: I hope they decide for SOMETHING soon
pyon
:-O
Denommus
stack-ide was fine (except for the fact that it required stack, of course)
vendu
thecha, my oldest book is mathematics and computers from 1957 :)
thecha
what do you like about it? :
:)
vendu
oh, i haven't read that one yet, didn't just find it but it's here Somewhere (TM) :)
pyon
What's KDE's default Web browser?
marchelzo
isn't it konqueror or whatever?
FLHerne
pyon: Rekonq mostly
kadoban
konqueror I think. It's not great.
pyon
Ah!
FLHerne
Some people like Konqueror, but it's not seen much love for a while
pyon
I don't need anything super fancy. I just want something I can use to read Racket's documentation. Apparently, 50 tabs are enough to bring Firefox to a halt.
kadoban
Last I remember using it, it renders pretty decently. That's about all I liked about it though, and I didn't test it much.
FLHerne
Rekonq is QtWebkit based, Konqueror KHTML with optional QtWebkit instead
marchelzo
>not using wget
thecha
pyon use icecat
or your could use lynx
FLHerne
Someone's working on 'Fiber', which will be a shiny new CEF-based one (i.e. Servo or Blink)
thecha
lynx is a text based browser
pyon
thecha: It's so much nicer to read programming documentation with syntax highlighting.
thecha: But, anyway, coming from you, I never know when a suggestion is intended to be serious.
thecha
wouldnt emacs allow for that?
it is alwyys serious
i used lynx on my phone
marchelzo
use phantomjs to screenshot every page and read it in a photo viewer
pyon
thecha: I use lynx on my phone. -- Okay. Now I know how serious you are.
thecha
it is pretty good if you dont want to deal with all the images and flash that slows you down
i really did
pyon
marchelzo: Heh.
thecha
well anyways if you need a full on browser icecat is pretty good it is a fork of firefox but free
like they dont have all the scripts and what not
if i am not mistaken they also dont have these weird chat stuff and so forth
jsut liek a basic secure browser
pyon
Well, I hope Icecat isn't as bloated and slow as Firefox.
marchelzo
with a total of 7 users
thecha
and you will have it in your repository on arch gnu linux
no
it isnt
it is the exact opposite
pyon
I've been trying several Web browsers for a while already.
thecha
that is the sole purpose of the fork
ahh
pyon
And every single one is broken in some way or another.
marchelzo
what's wrong with chrome?
GeDaMo
pyon: just write your own :P
marchelzo
inb4 not free
thecha
cant you use emacs for browsing?
i am not familair with it
but i knwo that oyu can have highlighting on emacs right?
pyon
thecha: I can, but it isn't pleasant.
thecha
ahh
wel i dont even knwo lisp
pyon
thecha: Also, Emacs only highlights syntax when you're in the appropriate language-specific mode.
thecha
liek cc-mode isee
pyon
thecha: That is, not when you're using an embedded Web browser.
marchelzo
pyon: I'm sure you could hack together a major mode specifically for reading Racket docs.
thecha
ahh i understand
pyon let me know how oyu liekd icecat
